How to Reuse Existing Content from LOR in the Course Outline
- In the Project, users can manage the Course Outline in the Outline mode and Author mode
- In the Outline mode, click the “+” icon next to any node to bring up the Add Node modal.
- To bring up the Add Node modal in Author mode, click on the More ( ⋮ ) icon on any node and select + Add Node.
Note: In the Add Node modal, the Reuse Existing Content button is available on all node types. Using this button, objects from LOR can be reused in the Course Outline.
- Choose a particular node type from any of the following options as required:
- Folder
- Content Screen
- Assessment
- Assignment
- Forum
- Resource
- External Tool
- On selecting a node type, click the Reuse Existing Content button.
- Choosing the Reuse Existing Content option brings up only the relevant object types from LOR for selection. Only a single object can be added at once.
- Search, sort & filter are available in the LOR asset picker to find the required object.
- On moving your mouse over the desired object, a radio button will be visible against it. Click the radio button to select the object.
- Alternatively, click an object to view its details and choose the Select button.
- On selecting the object, users can choose from the following options to add it in the course outline:
- Add as Global - Global resource makes it easy to keep content up-to-date, central and reusable.
- Add as Local - Global resource gets converted to local resource, it will not receive update.
- Based on the options selected, the node will be successfully reused in the outline.
Note: All types of nodes can be created inside a folder, including a folder. Users can continue performing actions or work on other nodes of the Course Outline while one node action(add, delete, reuse, edit) is in process.
