How to Lock/Unlock the Nodes for Updates
- In the Project, users can manage the Course Outline in the Outline mode and Author mode
- In the Outline mode, hover on the Node to view the lock/unlock icon.
- Click the lock icon to lock the node.
- To lock a node in Author mode, hover on the node in the course outline on the left panel and click the lock icon.
Note: Only the Project Admin and users with lock permission assigned can lock the node.

On Locking the Nodes, the following features will freeze, i.e. no updates will be possible:
- Content Update – Users cannot access the Editor. (Content can be previewed using Project Preview)
- Metadata – Metadata cannot be updated
- Reorder – Node and its child nodes cannot be reordered
- Add – Child nodes cannot be added under the locked node.
- Edit – Node details cannot be updated.
- Delete – Node and its child nodes cannot be deleted.
- Status – Node Status cannot be changed.
- Locking an Assessment, Assignment, Forum and Asset on the TOC will lock the corresponding item in the Management as well.
- Locking a folder will auto-lock all the child nodes under the folder.
Note: While locking a Content page, Assessment, Assignment or Forum if more users are working on the editor, they will be allowed to save their changes. As soon as the users come out of the Editor, the node will be locked for access.
- Once locked, the lock icon is replaced by the unlock icon.
- To unlock the node, click on the unlock icon.
- On locking/unlocking the node a confirmation message will appear.
Note: Only the Project Admin and users with unlock permission assigned can unlock the node.
On navigating to Author or Preview mode from the top navigation, users will need to select a node to view its content.
