How to configure an external tool on Moodle LMS
- Login into Moodle as an admin user.
- LTI Setup in Moodle :-
- Navigate to Site administration.
- Select Plugins.
- Under External tool select Manage tools.
- Select configure a tool manually.
- Fill out the following details to register LTI Tool in Moodle
- Add Tool Name
- Tool Url: – Copy LAUNCH URL from LTI Platform table in admin
- LTI Version: – 1.3
- Public Key: – Copy Public Key from LTI Platform table in admin
- Initiate login URL: – Copy OPENID LOGIN URL from LTI Platform table in admin
- Redirection URI(s): – Copy LAUNCH URL from LTI Platform table in admin
- Tool configuration usage: – Show in activity chooser and as a preconfigured tool
- Default launch container: – Embed (Check Content-Item Message)
- Content Selection URL: – Copy LAUNCH URL from LTI Platform table in admin
- Save Changes
Note: Newly created tools will be visible in the list. View Tool Configuration Details for necessary details/parameters/values to fill in Frost.
- Edit LTI Platform in Frost: Copy fields from Moodle Tool Configuration to LTI Platform
- Audience/Issuer: – Platform ID (from Moodle)
- Client Id: – Client ID (from Moodle)
- JWT Key Set URL: – Public keyset URL (from Moodle)
- Access Token URL: – Access Token URL (from Moodle)
- Authorization URL: – Authentication request URL (from Moodle)
- Click Save
Note: On successful configuration, users can access and add LOR objects in the Moodle Course.
- Launch external tool in course content: – Launch Content
- Open Course in Moodle and turn editing On.
- Add an activity or resource.
- Choose the Configured tool from the list.
- Select Content.
- Picker will be opened.
- Select the LOR object and add.
- Objects will get added in the course
Note: All the objects present in LO Repository will be available to be inserted in the course.
