How to use Kaltura Video Gallery in a Course?
Kaltura Video Gallery is a searchable media repository for viewing, managing, and utilizing media into the content area of a course. Video Gallery is course specific, hence the media added in the gallery in Course 1 will not be displayed in Course 2. In case, if the course is duplicated, the media added in the gallery in course will be displayed in the duplicated course. Video Gallery preferences, permission settings determine who can view Kaltura Video Gallery options are configured and controlled by Super Admin settings. The search box helps users to find the exact media and eliminate the irrelevant information. Users can refine and customize the search results to find the exact media by applying filters. For instance, users can filter the record by Media Type, Ownership, Captions, Duration, Creation Date, and Last Updated Date. Search in option allows users to search in Details, Chapters/Slides, Captions, Quiz, Comments or in All Fields. Users can also sort search results by ascending and descending order of creation date and updated date timestamps, comments, and so on.
- From the Project Dashboard, click on the Project Navigation menu and select Kaltura Video Gallery.
- The Kaltura Media Gallery screen appears.
- To find a media, type a keyword in the Search this gallery box and click the search icon to perform the search.
Note: To search for an exact match, please use Quotation Marks. Example: “computer”.
- Click the Filter button. The filter options appear where you can apply the filter for the entered search string. The available option are:
- Media Type
- Ownership
- Captions
- Duration
- Creation Date
- Last Updated Date
- Select the appropriate option.
- Click the Search In drop-down list to search the string in a particular database field. The available options are:
- All Fields (by default selected)
- Details
- Chapters/Slides
- Captions
- Quiz
- Comments
- Select the appropriate option.
- Click the Sort By drop-down list to sort the record details by particular order. The available options are:
- Relevance ( by default selected)
- Creation Date - Descending
- Creation Date - Ascending
- Updated Date - Descending
- Updated Date - Ascending
- Alphabetically - A to Z
- Alphabetically - Z to A
- Plays
- Comments
To add media to the gallery:
- Click the +Add Media button
- The Add Media screen appears.
- Click the ADD NEW drop-down list.
- Select the type of media to upload. The available options are:
- Media Upload
- Express Capture
- Video Quiz
- Select the appropriate option and upload the media file.
- On successful upload, the Upload Complete message appears on the screen.
- Enter the details for the uploaded media.
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Publish button.
- The uploaded media appears into the Media Gallery.
Notes:
- The configuration for Kaltura Media Gallery setting will be available at a Super Admin level.
- A Super Admin is a user that has complete access to the system. The super admin user access is with LearningMate only. To make any super admin level configurations for the tenant, kindly raise a Zendesk Request or contact the Account SPOC.
- The configuration of tool provider with key and secret for Kaltura Media Gallery setting will be available at an Admin level. Once it is configured, users can access the Kaltura Media Gallery option in Designer.
To configure the setting:
- Navigate to the Admin platform by clicking on the horizontal ellipses at the top-left corner of the screen.
- On the dashboard, click the LTI drop-down list and select Tool Providers.
- The Tool Providers screen appears.
- Click the CREATE TOOL PROVIDER button.
- The Create Tool Provider screen appears. Enter the required details:
- Tool Name: Enter the appropriate tool name.
- LTI 1.1 (by default selected)
- LTI 1.3
- Support deep linking (content item selection): Select this check box to activate the Content Selection (launch) URL field.
- Content Selection (launch) URL: Enter the valid URL
- Tool Domain: Enter the valid tool domain
- Custom Params: Enter the valid custom params
- LTI Key:Enter the valid LTI key
- Secret Key: Enter the valid secret key
6. Click the Save button to save the record details.
