How to insert an external tool in the content page
- From the Project Dashboard, select the Content Node from the Outline mode to open it in author mode.
- Alternatively, users can switch to Author mode and select the Content Node.
- Position the cursor in the editor to place the external tool.
- Click the Insert dropdown on the menu bar and select External Tool.
Note: Users can either choose from the available list of LTI 1.1 or LTI 1.3 tools, pre-registered in the Admin platform or they can Insert External Tool if no tool is pre-registered.
- Select a pre-registered tool from the available list of LTI 1.1 or LTI 1.3 tools:
- LTI 1.1 tools configured with the basic launch (without the search icon) can be added directly by selecting the tool
- LTI 1.1 tools configured with Content Item selection and LTI 1.3 tools will have a search icon next to them, clicking this will open the corresponding provider UI to select resources
Note: URL and custom properties are available for the user to add/edit manually.
- Alternatively, to add a tool, click Insert External Tool Manually and input the required details:
- Name of the External Tool
- External Tool Type
- URL
- Custom Properties
- Additionally, on the Metadata tab users can add the KVP, Tags, and Taxonomy.
- Click Add.
- Alternatively, you can also reuse an existing external tool node from the LOR.
- Click Pick from Repository
- Select an External Tool file
- Click Add Selected
Note: Users can search or apply filters to find the required file on the LO Repository.
- Click the Settings button on the External Tool to configure:
- Width - to set the width of the tool (Min 300 & Max 940)
- Height - to set the height of the tool (Min 150)
- Alignment - to align the tool as required
- Left (default)
- Center
- Right
- Click Save to update the Settings.
- To delete the external tool, click Delete.
- Click Save on the editor.
