How to Duplicate an Online Course 

The structure of original source course helps to create the 'template' course that you can duplicate whenever you are creating a new course. Duplicating the course helps to use the same content for multiple courses. You can also customize the duplicated course for a particular audience.

Before duplicating the course, you can either retain global resources or convert them to local resources.

• Retain Global Resources: If this option is selected, the system generates the exact duplicate of the source course and keeps the LOR, Vimeo, and Kaltura references central.
• Convert to Local Resources: If this option is selected, the system removes the reference links connected to LOR, except reference links connected to objects from external applications like Vimeo and Kaltura.

1. From the My Projects dashboard, click the vertical ellipsis icon on the bottom right of the course you want to duplicate.

2. Click Duplicate.

3. The Duplicate Course dialog box appears.

   • Retain Global resources- Global resources make it easy to keep content up-to-date, central, and reusable.

   • Convert to local resources- Global resources get converted to local resources. It is no longer reusable or is able to receive updates.

4. Select the appropriate option.

5. The Duplicate Course dialog box appears to rename the duplicated course.

6. Click Duplicate.

Note: Duplicating a project takes some time, you will receive an email once it is created. The new course will be listed under My projects / Courses.

7. An email will be sent to your registered email ID, confirming the successful project duplication.

8. This duplicated course can be viewed on the My Projects dashboard.

9. Alternatively, you can click a project to open it, and then select the Duplicate Project option on the left side panel of the project dashboard to create its duplicate.

Note: Duplicating global resources setting will be available at a Super Admin level or it will available at Tenant Admin as well. Either can set or update.

To configure the settings

1. Navigate to the Admin platform by clicking on the horizontal ellipses at the top-left corner of the screen.

2. On the Admin dashboard, select the Tenant tab to navigate to the Tenant Configuration page.

3. Click Registration and Authentication and navigate to the Designer Settings section.

4. Duplicating Global Resources

   • Ask me every time: Displays the pop-up to select between Retain Global Resources or Convert to Local Resources before duplicating the course. By default, this option is selected for existing or new tenants.
   • Retain Global Resource: If this option is selected, the duplicated course will have all objects linked to LOR every time.
   • Convert to Local Resource: If this option is selected, the duplicated course will have all objects local every time.

5. Select the appropriate option.

6. Click Save button to update the changes.
