Instant content preview
The 15 minutes delay in previewing the updated content for the author, teachers, and administrators (Frost and LMS) has been addressed with the latest CDN Caching mechanism. There would be an instant preview of the updated content in LOR or reused in Designer from LOR by any user. Similarly, there would be an instant preview of the objects modified and published/republished from Designer to LOR. On the LMS, non-student users (Admin, Teacher, Instructor role) would be able to see the latest updates immediately. Students would see the latest content only post the 15 minutes of caching time.
Ability to author Content Screen
The application has been equipped with the capability to author Single Page Content Screen directly in LOR having similar traits and experience as Designer inside the New Content Screen option in Repository. Users would have the ability to author (create and modify existing) the Content Screens by including Text with formatting, Media, Patterns, and Content Fragments along with other existing widgets. Capability to preview (pre-save and post-save and add) the content being authored has been enabled for the users’ ease. Content Screens are going to be saved with the .HTML extension and can be filtered out specifically with the filter Content Screen under the Content type. Authors would be able to reuse the Content Screens created directly in LOR while curating the Courses in Designer, the usage log would be captured accordingly.
New Metadata filtration experience
As opposed to a separate entire full page just for metadata selection for object filtration that somehow looks disjoint to the other components of the LOR, now the entire metadata selection control has been shifted to a new visual tabular component having the similar capability to add/update/delete Key-Value Pair, Taxonomy and Tags individually as earlier. The filter would get applied once the users click Done on the component. Reset Filters and Save Search would continue to function as earlier.
New default thumbnails and visual changes in the add new object list
Default thumbnails of the objects, which could be added explicitly in LOR, has been updated to a more meaningful and easily identifiable ones according to the resource types, e.g., External Tool/Link, Vimeo Video, Kaltura Video, YouTube Video, Referenced Object. Updated thumbnails would be shown in the preview panel and listing page once an object is created unless the said object has an actual preview (e.g., video, image). This would be applicable in the LOR Listing page, LOR Add, Edit & Preview page, All LOR pickers in Designer, LOR, LMS, and Admin. To keep symmetry, the same has been carry forwarded as icons adjacent to the line items of the add New object list for better identification and user experience.
