Improvements
Support of Homepage and Syllabus (Canvas)
Users shall now be able to have the Homepage, as well as Syllabus, authored and ported seamlessly between Frost and Canvas (Import and Export). These will be called ‘Homepage’ and ‘Syllabus’ & are treated as content pages in Frost having uniform authoring and preview experience. As per the export or deep publish type, ‘Homepage’ and ‘Syllabus’ are pushed to Canvas as Non-LTI (editable in Canvas), LTI links or content as LTI embed similar to other content pages.
Course Outline Optimizations
Improvements on the Course Outline are as follows:
- On the Outline, the default state will be of Outline in a collapsed mode
- On the expansion of the folder, the child nodes/ hierarchy will be dynamically fetched the 1st time.
- On navigation to Author or Preview mode using the top navigation, no node will be auto selected by default - users will need to select a node to view its content.
- The ability to create a hierarchy under the Content pages is now restricted, any existing hierarchy before this implementation will be unaffected, but users can no longer create or reorder a hierarchy under the content pages.
- The expansion state will be retained if user navigates between the 3 modes but of user changes the URL (by force refresh / navigating out of the outline to any other tab / navigating to any management option ) then the expanded state will not retain, users will see the default state ie. to select a node
Capability to tag 'Admin' role in comments
While adding comments, users with 'Admin' roles will be default available in the comment dropdown. Project users can now tag the Admin user to a comment/response. Applicable to both Content Pages & Templates commenting capability.
Support of Editable Canvas packages in Canvas Non-LTI Export & Deep Publish
Canvas Editable pages are now supported in Canvas non-lti export/deep publish. Canvas users would have the ability to preview & edit content in the respective pages pushed from Frost. (Youtube, Kaltura, Vimeo),Gadgets, External Tools and Widgets authored in Frost will render in Canvas. Frost elements cannot be edited but removed from the Canvas editor. Page Link and Pattern link authored in Frost would be having native behaviour in Canvas.
Support of Point Rubrics in D2L import to Frost
Point rubrics are now supported in import from D2L to Frost. In other words, if the user author's point rubrics in D2L and takes an import in Frost, that rubrics will render in Frost, both in management and in Course Outline.
Ability to align Image patterns in content
The Settings is updated to include an Alignment option to align the images to left, centre & right. By default, the Media pattern when dropped, it would be left aligned, and the formal & informal figure is centre aligned. Applicable to Resource pattern(Display Image section). Existing courses authored with Media patterns would by default behave as it is left aligned for Image, Center aligned for Formal/Informal figure. Applicable to all areas where the full editor is enabled (Content Screen, Templates, Descriptions(Assessment, Assignment, Forum), Content Screen & Content Fragment (LOR).
Capability to add youtube pattern, page/pattern links in Descriptions (Assessment, Assignment & Forum)
Users shall now be able to add Youtube patterns, and page/pattern links in Descriptions (Assessment, Assignment & Forum). Provision is available in Content Pages to extend page/pattern link to Assessment/Assignment/Forum Node on TOC( Reuse Node from LOR/Management). On switching to Course Preview, it would work similarly to Content. In LOR(Post Publish), page/pattern links will open in a new tab.
